Since you are kind enough to visit AngkorPhotography we feel we owe you some information about the status of this website. We have been working for some time now (actually quite some time) on a challenging but exciting project, the publication of a guidebook on the Angkor temples which will be available in October 2011.

Then we will officially launch AngkorPhotography.com and its sister site, MyanmarPhotography.com.

Angkor The Guidebook

Over a span of more than five centuries, from Yacovavarman I to Jayavarman VII and his successors,
Khmer kings established their capital city in the stretch of land delimited by the Thonle Sap lake to the south and the Khulen hills to the north. Learn more about the wars they waged to extend their rule over large territories or to protect their kingdom against Cham invasions. Read about the magnificence of their palaces and about daily life in Angkor through the narrative of a 13th c. Chinese visitor, Zhou Daguan.

Mythological scenes depicting Hindu gods adorn most of the Angkor temples. But Buddhism was present at Angkor from the beginning and even became the official religion of king Jayavarman VII at the end of the 12th century. Learn more about Shiva, Vishnu, Buddha and Lokeshvara, the Bodhisattva of compassion. Follow the exploits of Vishnu's two most famous avataras, Rama and Krishna through the two glorious epics, the Ramayana and the Mahabharata.

cardinal points and the skies played an important role.
